Meeting Space Tips

  • Pick an area where there would be little to no background noise
  • Pick a spot that won’t have a window directly behind you
    • Sunlight coming in from a window directly behind you can make it hard to see you

Technology Tips

  • Pick an area where you have a good Wi-Fi signal
  • Don’t be in the same room as another person using Zoom
    • If two or more people are using Zoom at the same time and are all in the same room (Ex. Commission Chambers), then this will cause feedback noise
    • If you have to be in the same room as another person using Zoom, a set of headphones or earbuds with a built-in microphone is required to reduce feedback noise
  • Have your laptop or iPad plugged into power
    • If a meeting goes longer than planned, you won’t have to worry about finding the power cord and trying to plug into a power outlet during a meeting
  • Test your Webcam, Speakers, and/or Microphone before a meeting
    • On a Windows computer:
      • Launch the Zoom application (no need to Join a meeting or Sign In)
      • Right-click on the Zoom icon located near the time & date and click on Settings
      • Select Video and Audio in the settings menu to test your microphone, speakers, and webcam
